Noise and Kisses- Week 2

Whoo hooo!! Social Media!!!

Something i have done before. Social Networking has been incorporated into my life, i really wonder how i survived the days before MSN and Facebook. When a new social networking website is created, i was so "wowed" by it all i didn't think it could get any better than this. But it did.. it got so much better each year! MSN kept upgrading itself, and then there was flickr, then there was friendster (though i never created an account) and then there was facebook, which i created simply just for fun because all my friends were taking photos and telling me to look it up on facebook. I watched as each of my friends got sucked into the facebook world and were ranting about it's wonders. At first i didn't think it was fantstic, then i decided to just give it try.
Now, i am consumed by facebook. I log on when im bored, i go on it when i'm waiting to leave the house even though i know not much could have changed since i last logged on about and hour ago, i scan through when i am waiting for a page to load or when i'm waiting for a friend to reply on MSN. It sounds sad how i have become so absorbed by this once insiggnificant idea of joining some website so people can contact you, but it has done wonders! I have gotten back in contact with people whom i haven't seen or heard from since elementary days, and before i knew it, they were visiting Singapore and we were back in the old days! :> Not to the mention the awesome and cute applications facebook offers. The applications are so fun to us and are great ways of showing affection and care. From giving a friend a 'hatching egg' with adorable baby animals to posting customized postage notes on another friend's profile for the world to see.

Another favortie of mine is youtube and the hilarious videos you can find of people doing the stupidest and most random things, yet they are amazingly entertaining. Also, the little clips of shows you wish you could watch but don't have access to are available on youtube.

This is a funny video a friend sent me. It made my day!!! Its a tamil song with English "subtitles" of what the words sound like.

Blue and Yellow

This is my first ever time creating a blog, and how sad that my virgin blog is born because it is required for a course module.

Before this blog, i never really understood the purpose of blogs. People say that you can create it for anything but i just didn't see the wonders of a blog. In fact i thought it to be a tedious, superfluous web page that took up space and time in your life due to the obligation to update it. Plus, i never felt the need to inform the world of my daily activities or trials and tribulations. If people wanted to know, they could always ask. I guess my traditional beliefs of expressing serious thoughts and feelings were best done face to face and exclusively. The closest thing to a blog i've ever done is posting notes on Facebook and that's about it. Yes, some notes are quite personal but they are not exactly direct forms of expression, because only those who know the background stories can really understand what i write.

The first time i recall using the internet was when i was 11, 2001. Even then i wasn't that big a fan of the internet until i started using MSN which changed my life! Now, every aspect of my life revolves around the internet. I use it for everything! I love the fact the internet is a giant encyclopedia for me to use whenever i want or need to. What i love are the generous websites that allow you to watch movies and tv shows almost instantly and listen to songs until you get sick of them.

When flipping through the syllabus i saw the word blog in bold which stumped me.... as i had no idea what we had to do even after reading the paragraph that explained the purpose of creating a blog for the course. I had to admit a little spark of panic lit because i hadn't the slightest clue how to create one let alone know what to write. But i discovered that creating a blog is so easy, but there's still the faintest bit of bewilderment as to how i'm going to continue writing stuff for each week...

Well, now that i've created my very first blog, which i hope does not mess up somehow. Computers and programs seem to be out to get me sometimes.. so i hope this blog will be nice to me. This wasn't so bad and i am slowly realizing why people enjoy blogs so much! :)
